How to Include Your Grandparents on Your Big Day

November 6, 2019

Terrell Barn Wedding

Terrell Barn Wedding

A way to make your big day at our Terrell barn wedding venue extra special is by including your grandparents. There are so many ways to do so that range from cute and funny to so sweet! The Establishment Barn wanted to share a few of our favorites with you.

  • Before the wedding day, you can ask your grandmother to come to your dress appointments with you to help you choose the perfect wedding dress. This will be a beautiful memory that the two of you will share forever, and that she will appreciate tenfold.
  • Do you want your grandparents to be in your wedding? Have your grandmother’s be your flower girls! Everyone will love this, and it is such a fun way to keep them included in your big day.
  • If you want to honor your grandparents, have a family tree table at your reception. This will showcase your family history to everyone. Your grandparents will feel so loved when they see this showcase that is specifically for them. You can also have a small section of your reception be dedicated to showcasing wedding dresses throughout your family. Have your mother’s wedding dress, as well as your two grandmother’s wedding dresses next to it!
  • If your grandparent has passed away, honor them by dedicating a seat to them at your ceremony. You will be able to look out and see where they would be sitting and know how loved you are by them. You can also consider having their favorite song as your first dance song, or having that song play while you have a moment to honor them.

However you choose to honor and include your grandparents in your wedding day, we are excited to see the unique ways you choose at our Terrell barn wedding venue!

What to Wear For Your Bachelorette Party

October 23, 2019

Dallas white barn wedding

Dallas White Barn Wedding

It’s almost time for your Dallas white barn wedding which means it is also almost time for your bachelorette party! You have all the plans made, you’re getting excited, and everyone out of town has their travel plans to come to town. The only thing that’s left is figuring out what to wear for the night, and sometimes even entire weekend! The Establishment Barn is here to help you figure out the best fashion to wear for your bachelorette weekend.

  • First off, be prepared to wear a lot of white. In typical bachelorette party fashion, the bride almost exclusively wears white while all of her besties wear black to really make you stand out. Don’t feel like you have to wear white, though, you’ll just want to wear something that makes you stand out from your crew.
  • Wear a crop top and pant set! This gives the look of a jumpsuit, but without all of the annoying problems of a jumpsuit. Pair the set with a nice pair of heels or sandals and you’ll be all set for a dinner or a night out on the town.
  • If you want a cute, bouncy look go for a babydoll dress or a romper! Both of these options can be dressed up or be pretty casual looks. These are both simple, but fully put together looks that will show everyone how fashionable you are without even trying to be.
  • If you don’t like wearing fully white, go for a white base dress or blouse with colorful patterns or sequins! This adds a little something fun, especially if fully white clothes are not your jam or you’re afraid that you’ll stain it! This will still be keeping you in the typical bride-wears-white fashion of the bachelorette party without being fully white.

Ring Bearer & Flower Girl Fall Styles

October 15, 2019

DFW Barn Wedding

DFW Barn Wedding

Everyone knows that second most important people at the wedding are the ring bearer and flower girl! There are so many styles out there of how to dress them for a DFW barn wedding, but we wanted to tell you our favorite fall styles for these two. You can have them be in the same style idea, or you can have them match fully! We have some ideas for you below.

Ring Bearer:

  • Have you ring bearer wear suspenders and finish it off with a cute bowtie! He will be the center of attention in his outfit. He will fully look like he belongs standing next to the groomsmen during the ceremony,
  • Fall means plaid season, right? Dress your ring bearer up in a swanky plaid blazer! Find one that matches he color scheme of the wedding and you’ll be good to go. He probably won’t even want to take it off. If you wanted to, you could complete the look and have matching plaid pants, as well.

Flower Girl:

  • For a fall wedding, go with a unique look like a peter pan collar dress. She will look adorable in this vintage style dress. In a rustic barn wedding setting, this dress’ vibe will fit in perfectly.
  • Does your flower girl love all things girly including tutus? For late fall, have her wear a long tutu with a sweater. She will be comfortable, warm, and still so cute! This is the perfect look for more casual weddings, but can be dressed up easily for formal weddings, as well.
  • Lastly, have her wear a plaid dress to match the ring bearer’s plaid blazer! Not only will this keep the same look down the aisle, but it will create cohesiveness in pictures. Everyone will love their matching outfits and will definitely want to steal the idea!

October 12, 2019

North Texas Barn Venue

North Texas Barn Venue

As your favorite North Texas barn venue, we wanted to share some insight into the current barn wedding decor trends that you should be on the lookout for. Going into fall there are already new trends, but coupling a rustic barn with fall decor is a dream wedding look!

  • Using greenery throughout your wedding creates a beautiful and homey feel, but this is definitely the case in our barn venue! Greenery alone has become very popular within the year, and the greatest part about it is that it never goes out of season! For fall decor, just use darer greenery and more vine types than leafy greens. You can use it throughout table decor, walls, the bouquet, through rafters, and wherever else! It is incredibly versatile.
  • For another, more subtle decoration, use lace and macrame! Using them in their classic white and ivory forms in our white barn will add just the right amount of texture to your decor. Putting these on the backs of chairs, as backdrops, and the underneath of table settings is the perfect way to subtly add them in.
  • Using chalk board signs to get across large messages adds the perfect rustic touch! Use chalk boards for the guest seating, the menu, and any other large signs, quotes, or messages you need to get across.
  • Lastly, if you’re thinking about having a lounge area, consider using vintage furniture! You can find vintage furniture at estate sales, borrow it from your grandparent’s homes, or rent it! There is nothing stopping you from having a beautiful, rustic lounge areas for guests to enjoy. They will all want to do the same thing at their own weddings!

We are so excited to be hosting your wedding or for you to be considering having your wedding at our barn! Feel free to contact us for more information.

Catering to Guests Food Allergies

September 27, 2019

DFW Barn Venue

DFW Barn Venue

Catering for as many people as you will have at your DFW barn venue wedding is hard enough before you take food allergies into account. Luckily, it is not as complicated as it seems it would be! Catering to your friend’s and family’s allergies does not mean that you have to have one menu that is fully gluten, dairy, and nut free. It just means labeling, knowing restrictions, and having some options. Let’s talk about how you can easily make your wedding allergen friendly.

  • Firstly, know the allergies that your guests have! These are easy to collect, just have a section on your RSVP that asks if guests have any food allergies that you should know about. From there, you can begin piecing your alternate options for food together.
  • Make sure to label everything at your reception! If you’re having a buffet style dinner, label all of the ingredients in each dish and/or label if they are gluten free, dairy free, or anything else free! This will make it easier for everyone and take all the wondering out of whether or not someone can eat something.
  • Do you not know how to make the dishes you’re planning to have at your wedding allergen friendly? Make your hors d’oeuvres allergen free! Have a couple of options that are dairy free, a couple that are nut free, some that are gluten free, and then some that are a mix! This way, even if someone has an allergy, they can still eat something.
  • Don’t forget about allergen friendly desserts, either! Maybe you don’t want a fully gluten free cake? Talk to your baker about making some gluten free cookies for those guests that can’t have gluten. Dessert is easy to forget in this regard, but everyone wants dessert, even if they have an allergy!

Pros and Cons to Every Wedding Size

September 9, 2019

North Texas Barn Venue

Everyone’s wedding is different, including the size. Some wedding sizes work for some that just wouldn’t work for others. Maybe you want a small, intimate wedding with only the people you’re closest to or maybe a huge party with everyone that you know is what you want? Every wedding size brings different responses from guests and different vibes for your wedding.

Small ~50

A small wedding might be right for you if you don’t like big events and only want to celebrate with those close to you. Small weddings save money and allow you to spend quality time with each of your guests. There’s no chance of you feeling overwhelmed at your own party. Small weddings are intimate and special to everyone involved.

Medium 50-150

A medium wedding is everyone that you love and are close to, plus a few more. At a medium wedding, you’ll still have a lot of face time with your guests, and not feel too overwhelmed. People who you want to be at your wedding, but have not kept up with well will be able to be invited. There’s even potential room for plus ones that you’ve never met before. Many people consider medium sized weddings the perfect size. They truly are a happy medium.

Large 150+

Large weddings are perfect for those who love to party! There will always be something going on or someone to talk to. If you’re wanting a giant party focused on you all day/night long, a big wedding is the way to go. A big wedding allows you to invite everyone you could imagine inviting – all of your family and friends, past teachers or professors you loved, your new works friend, even. The downside of a large wedding is the price tag, but if you want it, you can make it happen!

Need to Cut Costs? Here’s How

September 5, 2019

DFW Barn Wedding

DFW Barn Wedding

Are you planning your DFW barn wedding and getting closer and closer to your budget line but you’re not sure where to cut costs? We have some tips for you on how to do just that without compromising your dream wedding (Yes, that’s possible)! Keep reading to find out how you can save money and still have your perfect wedding.

  • Have a smaller wedding in your guest count. Not inviting people you don’t actually want at your wedding will end up saving a lot of money. Through things that you have to buy, rent, and even catering, costs will be cut and money will be saved. Less people equals more money to spread out over other things.
  • For your florals, you can either go with have less flowers which will naturally cause you to have a smaller floral budget. Cutting back on the decorative florals and using something else instead will drastically cut back the money allocated to that section of your wedding, in turn, saving you money. If you still want to load your wedding up with florals, choose in season flowers! In season flowers are typically much cheaper than any other option because there is more of an abundance of them.
  • Go for DIY options! Using DIY options does not even mean that you have to make everything. You can buy a Polaroid camera and a fun background with a few props for around $100 instead of renting a mobile photo booth for a couple hundred dollars! Doing things like this will greatly reduce the amount of money that you are spending.

Cutting costs seems like a daunting task, but once you figure out what are necessities to your wedding and what are wants, it becomes much easier. Spend some time making a list of what you feel you need and what you feel you just want.

Choosing Your Wedding Bands

August 27, 2019

premier DFW wedding venue

You’ve already got your engagement ring. It’s everything you’ve every imagined. But now you need to choose a wedding band to accompany it! The Establishment Barn, a premier DFW wedding venue, has some helpful tips for choosing the perfect wedding band.

  • Look for inspiration to narrow down your choices. One of the best things you can do before making a decision on your wedding band is to browse websites or magazines for styles you like. Once you get an idea of your favorite styles, making the final decision will be much easier!
  • There’s nothing wrong with mixing it up between the bride and groom’s bands. That gold band may be catching your eye, but your significant other keeps dropping hints about a platinum band. There’s nothing wrong with choosing different metals or different styles! Your choice should reflect your personality. You’re different people, so your choices should represent you accordingly.
  • Set a budget. It’s so easy to get excited the moment you start looking. You may find the band of your dreams, but you find out that it’s way out of your price range. If you set a budget in advance, you can keep yourself within a safe range, only looking at options that are affordable.
  • Choose something classic. You’ll want something that’ll last the test of time! Definitely make a decision that reflects your personality, but don’t choose something just because it’s trendy. Classic never goes out of style. But don’t worry if you want to make some changes later on! It’s easy to add diamonds or go from one metal to another if you want to switch things up in a few years.

There are so many decisions that go into your wedding day! This premier DFW wedding venue wants to provide you with the best advice for making decisions, from your venue to your dress to your bands!

Best venue EVER! Not only is it absolutely stunning inside and out with attention to detail, but the owner is so sharp and helpful! It is so new, so all the amenities are flawless. We were able to come in on Friday and set up all of our decorations and tables, which made it possible to have a very relaxing Saturday while getting ready. Sara, the owner, met with us one month out and gave us such great planning suggestions and help ease our last minute stress. After the wedding, all of our friends RAVED about how gorgeous the venue was! Also, the bridal suite is massive and so pretty! Perfect for a large bridal party! I would recommend 1000 times.

- Kamryn Taylor

My daughter was married at the Establishment Barn on June 1. The venue is absolutely beautiful! The design is amazing. Sara thought of every detail to create a bride's dream wedding experience! The bridal suite is very large and beautifully decorated. The groom's room was awesome too. The entire venue is spacious and just amazing, inside and out! Sara has a very calming nature and is wonderful to work with. She really helped my daughter and I through the process by answering any question we had and sharing recommendations with us. If you're looking for a wedding venue, or any type of event, go visit! You will fall in love!

- Kim McEnturff

"My husband and I just had our wedding this past weekend and we couldn’t have chosen a better venue. Besides it being an absolute gorgeous venue, the service was spectacular. Everyone went above and beyond to make sure that our day was everything we’ve dreamt of and more."

- Haylee Cano

The owners, Sara & Austen are two of the friendliest people you’ll come to know! Their energy and passion for hosting dream weddings was evident from day one. Sara made me feel comfortable and valued during our first tour. She understood that weddings are EXPENSIVE and IMPORTANT! She accommodated to all of our needs and answered my questions throughout the planning process. On our wedding day, staff was available to assist us when needed. Everything went so smoothly and it truly was the perfect day in the most beautiful venue! Having an outdoor AND indoor option was especially important to us as well. You will have that here! The bridal suite is a MUST SEE. It’s spectacular!! Sara & Austen do honor first responders AND nurses by providing a discount on your big day. We would recommend this couple AND this venue over and over again!

- McKenna LeCroy

"The space is absolutely incredible! You will definitely get your dream wedding and more here! Not to mention the owners are the greatest. They are organized, timely, and super creative. Best venue of the South!"

- Caylee Taylor

"My daughter's wedding was absolutely perfect! The Establishment Barn is a beautiful venue and Sarah, The Establishment Barn's owner was amazing! Sarah was so helpful and easy to work with...she ensured my daughter had the wedding of her dreams!"

- Jani Mansour

I would recommend Sara and her beautiful Barn in a heart beat. The venue is amazing and the bride/groom suites are unlike anything you have seen. It is a bit of a drive (we live in Dallas) but with the help of bus shuttles taking everyone out, it was perfect and so worth the drive. Sara was super sweet and helpful with her quick responses and vendor recommendations!

- Diana Knee

"Beautiful venue. Great owners and staff. Our day was better than I ever could’ve dreamed and a lot of that was thanks to the Establishment. I highly recommend this venue!"

- Claire Brewer

What can I say... this venue is a little slice of heaven tucked away in the woods. From beginning to end the process was professional and flawless, thanks to the Owner of the barn, Sara.

Sara went out of her way to have a friend run to get a Bundt cake when my cake girl was unresponsive and late. She let us use the barn and the bridal suite for my bridals which turned out beautiful. My guests RAVED about how beautiful it was. Close (11 miles) to some brand new very clean, nice hotels in Terrell - they even decorated our room the night of our wedding! I loved that I didn’t need to bring much decor because the barn’s beauty was enough! We were able to get there super early in the morning to start getting ready and relax in the upstairs oasis - it was just perfect. Can’t say enough - really.

- Lauren Barrett

The Establishment Barn and Sara (the owner) are so wonderful, it’s going to be hard to put into words how perfect and amazing everything was for our wedding. If you are looking for a great wedding venue, look no farther than The Establishment Barn. It truly is a hidden gem and I can’t imagine having my wedding any other place.

The Establishment Barn is a hidden gem just one hour east of Dallas. The property is beautiful and the barn itself is amazing. There is a beautiful and very large bridal suite upstairs and the groom’s suite is downstairs. There is a large kitchen for the caterer and a spacious area for cocktail hour.

Sara was so easy to work with and was very responsive anytime my wedding coordinator or myself had a question. She made herself available on a Sunday afternoon so my wedding coordinator and I could tour the venue together to discuss how everything was going to be setup. She was there during the setup up and our entire wedding, helping our coordinator if needed. She even texted me the day of my wedding saying congratulations and to savor the day because it’s going to be a day we will remember forever.

- Megan Crow

The Establishment Barn was incredible. The owner, Sara, was so easy and fun to work with! The venue was gorgeous! The bridal suite is to die for! Best day ever! Best venue
