Decor for Your Barn Wedding

April 3, 2020

Texas Barn Wedding

Texas Barn Wedding

Are you planning a Texas barn wedding, but unsure how to decorate to really take advantage of the aesthetic? The Establishment Barn has a few ideas for you to take full advantage of our space. Keep reading to learn about some of our favorite ways to see the barn in full decor!

Don’t forget that even the tiniest of details matter for your overall aesthetic! For a more rustic feel in our barn, use wood throughout your wedding decor! This can be done by using wooden cylinders as the trays underneath your dessert plates, wooden cheese boards, and wooden signage. The barn can have a multitude of ambiances, and this is just one of them! We love to see couples embracing the rustic mood.

For a dainty, country feel, use lace or doilies throughout your decor! Using lace table cloths on top of a full table cloth or using doilies underneath the place settings are a dainty and intricate way to give your wedding a country chic mood. This could be brought into the sweetheart table, as well, by creating a lace curtain backdrop behind you.

Lastly, for a modern barn mood, go for large-bulbed string lights and greenery! These make a great pairing and can be used on walls, in your table decor, and so many other places throughout your ceremony and reception. The string lights will give your entire reception a warm glow while the greenery adds texture to our barn.

Whatever aesthetic and ambiance that you choose to pursue at our Texas barn wedding venue, we are so excited to have you and your wedding at The Establishment Barn! If you’re interested in having your wedding at our barn, contact us today! We would love to talk with you about your upcoming big day.

Who Should Give a Speech at Your Wedding?

March 30, 2020

DFW Barn Venue

Planning out the timeline of your big day includes planning time for the speeches that will take place during the reception! But how long should you plan to dedicate to this time? The length of time depends on how many people you will have giving a speech during your reception at our DFW Barn Venue.

The first speech of the evening usually comes from the parents, or father of the bride. This can happen before, during, or after dinner, and is typically a thank you and congratulations speech all in one. They thank the guests for coming and congratulate the new and happy couple on their new marriage.

After dinner, but before cutting the cake, your maid of honor and best man should be prepared to give speeches during your wedding, too! These can be speeches about the two of you as a couple, their relationship with one of you and being able to see your side of the relationship evolve. These are a special time that you get to hear your best friends talk about you and your new life partner.

After the maid of honor and best man speeches or even after the cake cutting, the happy couple can then opt in to give a thank you speech to their family and friends for coming. Many couples don’t do this, so if you don’t love talking to crowds, don’t feel like you need to!

Lastly, you can reduce the time spent on speeches during your wedding by having a dedicated time during your rehearsal dinner for other family members or friends to give speeches or say a little something. This will be a special time between those closest to you and will help everyone that would potentially want to say something to you to feel included.

Unique Aisle Runners

March 27, 2020

Terrell Barn Wedding

Terrell Barn Wedding

The aisle runner at your wedding is a small detail, but a detail nonetheless! There are many unique ways to create the perfect aisle, depending on your wedding’s ambiance. We wanted to share a few great ideas for your aisle runner at our Terrell barn wedding venue!

First up, go natural! If you are a minimalist or are having your wedding outdoors on our property, having no aisle runner is a great way to go. It makes just as much of a statement as having one does.

If you are having more of a boho wedding, making your aisle runner up of multiple rugs might just be the way to go. Using multi-colored afghans with one main color is the best way to accomplish this look. It is a beautiful choice that will stand out in all of your wedding pictures.

Right now burlap is having its moment! If you are going for a country-chic style or even just adding to the farm’s style of our barn, a burlap aisle runner is a great way to go! It can be plain or you can DIY a little bit and add some shapes or lines with stencils and gold paint. The gold will just barely stand out, but enough to make a difference.

You can make the impression of an aisle, as well! Instead of having a runner going down the middle, you can line the sides, near the chairs, with florals, candles, ribbons, and other knick-knacks. This creates a subtle touch that will define the aisle just enough.

Tips for Your Rehearsal Dinner

March 23, 2020

Dallas Wedding Venue

Before your wedding day at our Dallas Wedding Venue, you have to get through your rehearsal dinner! Here are all of the tips and tricks to make sure that your rehearsal dinner is as smooth and relaxing as possible for you.

First and foremost, decide who is hosting right off the bat! You don’t want there to be confusion down the line on who is actually hosting. Traditionally, since the bride’s parents pay for the wedding, then the groom’s parents pay for the rehearsal dinner. Times have changed, though, so who pays for what is up to you! For example, if your parents are splitting the cost of the wedding, consider paying for and hosting the rehearsal dinner as a couple.

Pick a good location! Whether you want to have your rehearsal at your wedding venue or another cool and hip local place, choose a place that you love! You will feel more comfortable and at home this way. Sometimes that might even mean having it in your parent’s backyard if they have a large enough yard and other times that means going to the up and coming co-working space for your rehearsal. Know the vibe that you want and follow that to find a venue!

Allow your guests to speak! Not everyone will get a chance to give a speech on your big day, so allowing some time to pass microphones around to those people during your rehearsal dinner is the perfect time to hear what they have to say! You will feel incredibly loved (and maybe even a little burned!) by your close relatives and friends memorable and embarrassing stories.

A Look at Our Frequently Asked Questions

March 16, 2020

Terrell Barn Venue

Terrell Barn Venue

As your favorite Terrell Barn Venue, we love being transparent with you! We want your experience at our barn to be the best day of your life and we believe that that begins at the beginning of looking for a venue. Today, we are outlining a few of our most asked “frequently asked questions” for you so that you don’t have to wonder!

How many does the venue hold?

Our venue holds 275 people! We fully believe that our venue is a great size for a wedding that size or even a small and intimate wedding. We love our spacious and open layout because it allows you to not feel cramped even if you are at max capacity.

Ca I do bridals, engagements, or a boudoir shoot at the venue?

Yes! With your venue rental, you get an hour photo session included in your price. You can choose to use this for bridals, your engagement pictures, or your boudoir shoot. It is always special to take pictures at your venue because your pictures are then fueled by this excitement.

Are there any other fees other than the price?

The only additional fees that might be added to your venue are in the cases of add-ons or alcohol being present. While we include tables and chairs in your rental price, linens are an additional fee. We can also add a day-of coordinator to your package for an additional price or add an extra space flipping fee if you want us to flip your space for you between ceremony and reception. Lastly, if alcohol is present, we have an additional fee for a TABC bartender with a security guard. Other than these additional fees, taxes and cleanup are included within your event rental price!

Take a look at our details page or contact us to find out more or to ask us any other questions.

How to Choose the Perfect Vendor

February 24, 2020

Dallas Barn Wedding

Dallas Barn Wedding

Choosing the perfect vendors for your wedding is so important because it is what creates the mood, the food, and the overall experience! It is so important to choose vendors that mesh well with you, as a couple, and with what you want at your wedding. Here’s how to choose the best vendor for your Dallas barn wedding.

  • The first way to find a vendor is asking us about our preferred vendor list! While we allow any vendors, as long as they have vendor insurance and sign a vendor agreement, we do have a list of preferred vendors. This list might help you find a few vendors to meet with and learn more about off the get-go!
  • The next step is to ask your friends and family that have gotten married in the area that they used as vendors. Word of mouth is so helpful! If you loved your best friends DJ at her wedding, don’t be afraid to ask! She will be happy to help you out.
  • Don’t overwhelm yourself with options. Choose a solid few for each vendor, then set up interviews with them. Most vendors do either in-person or phone meetings with potential clients. We recommend doing an in-person interview with your potential vendors. This will help you see the personalities of the people that you will be directly working with for the coming months.
  • Lastly, be realistic with your budget! If you have a strict budget for each category, don’t entertain the idea of a more expensive vendor that is out of reach. It will only waste your time and potentially make you sad in the long run for vendors that you can’t have.

As your favorite Dallas barn wedding venue, we would love to talk with you about our preferred vendors! Contact us to learn more.

How to Ask Your Friends to be Bridesmaids

February 22, 2020

Terrell Wedding Venue

Terrell Wedding Venue

It’s official! You are engaged and set to have your wedding at our Terrell wedding venue! Next up is asking all of your best friends to be your bridesmaids. So many people go full-out extravagant to ask their best friends, but you don’t have to! Here are a few more low-key ways to ask your girls to be in your wedding party.

  • Create a box of their favorite things, and champagne (to celebrate when they say yes!). You can add their favorite candy, a jewelry piece that they have been wanting, a gift card, or anything else you would like to add. This will be a tangible gift to them that they appreciate so much!
  • Take and treat them to your favorite thing to do together! Do you love the outdoors? Go kayaking or hiking and ask them mid-adventure. If you always get your nails done together, treat them and pay for their mani/pedi this time. When they ask why you paid, you can tell them that it is because you want them to be a part of your big day.
  • Don’t feel like you have to ask in a big way, either. You can totally ask your best friends to be a bridesmaid casually, as well! They will still love you just the same and say yes to stand next to you! If you want to add a small thing, just invite them over toa homecooked meal! Everyone loves having a meal cooked for them, and it doesn’t cost you much, either.

However you choose to ask your best friends to be in your wedding party, we are so excited to have all of you at our barn wedding venue. If you don’t have a date with us yet, contact us to learn about our available dates.

As the best Terrell venue, we want to make sure that everything is set for your big day and that you have plenty of space to get ready.

We have dedicated our entire second floor for just the bridal suite. This floor is 800 square feet, so you will have plenty of space to get ready with everyone! Not only is there enough space to get ready, but to also relax when it isn’t your turn for makeup or hair!

Within our space, we have a full-sized mirror, an entire wall to hang everyone’s dresses on, 4 vanities, and a full-sized bathroom with more vanities. This is not only a great amount of space to get ready in, but for all of the pictures that your photographer will be taking, as well. To finish off the room, we have window overlooking the ceremony area which will continue to make your excitement for your big day grow.

Incorporating Your Last Name into the Wedding

February 14, 2020

DFW Barn Wedding Venue

DFW Barn Wedding Venue

Are you changing your last name after you’re married? Do you love the idea of incorporating your new last name and initials into your wedding? There’s so many ways to do so! Your favorite DFW Barn Wedding Venue is here to tell you how to wear, decorate, and celebrate with your new last name.

  • Want to wear your new last name’s first initial? Use initial hair clips in your up-do! Stores like Free People have lots of classy and elegant initial clip options that won’t make you feel like a child. Adding this into your bridal portraits will be incredibly special, as well.
  • For a suit, use initial cuff links! This will not only have an added unity in your accessories but could be a great wedding day gift for your partner, as well! This could be a very special moment during your first look or the night before. Using your last name initial in accessories is a subtle, but beautiful way to show your excitement for your new union.
  • Are you less into accessories and more into decor? Think about adding a neon sign with your last name into your reception for guests to take pictures under or for you to have behind your sweetheart table. If you are a more modern couple, this is the perfect addition to your wedding day! Neon signs look great with greenery around them, as well.
  • Lastly, if you have a photo booth at your wedding, see if it is possible to add your own, customized bottom to each picture print out. If it is possible, ask your artsy friend to design a footer for your photo booth pictures that fits the theme of your wedding perfectly! Adding just your last name will give the footer a more minimalist feel, too, since it will not be as crowded.

The Best Places to Honeymoon in 2020

January 30, 2020

Dallas Barn Venue

Dallas Barn Venue

Your dream wedding has come to a close, and it is time for the next part of being a newlywed: HONEYMOON! Where are the best places to honeymoon in 2020, you ask? We’re here to tell you the down-low about where you should honeymoon this year.

  • If you’re an adventurous couple, choose to go on an Antarctic cruise or go to a new state that’s out of your comfort zone, like Alaska! Either of these two places are unique and are great for the adventurers among us. Pack warm clothes for the daytime and be ready to see some beautiful sites! Your first trip as a married couple can be a new and unique experience for both of you.
  • If you’re more of a relaxed beach couple, take a look at going to Maldives or to Bali! With beautiful greenery and beaches, these are both great places to get away to and relax with your brand new spouse. You’ll get to spend your days on the beach together while you get to try new foods. True paradise.
  • If you’re trying to stay closer to the DFW area, take a trip to Denver, Chicago, or Nashville! You can find cheap flights out of Dallas to any of these places since they are not too far away by plane. They are great tourist cities with hidden gems in each of them. At the right season, you can go skiing in Denver, catch your favorite band in the music capital, or experience all the deep dish pizza in Chicago. Each of these cities has so much to offer and won’t be a crazy spending trip (unless you want it to be!).

Congratulations on your engagement and soon-to-be wedding! While you’re planning your wedding and honeymoon, be sure to check out our venue!

Best venue EVER! Not only is it absolutely stunning inside and out with attention to detail, but the owner is so sharp and helpful! It is so new, so all the amenities are flawless. We were able to come in on Friday and set up all of our decorations and tables, which made it possible to have a very relaxing Saturday while getting ready. Sara, the owner, met with us one month out and gave us such great planning suggestions and help ease our last minute stress. After the wedding, all of our friends RAVED about how gorgeous the venue was! Also, the bridal suite is massive and so pretty! Perfect for a large bridal party! I would recommend 1000 times.

- Kamryn Taylor

My daughter was married at the Establishment Barn on June 1. The venue is absolutely beautiful! The design is amazing. Sara thought of every detail to create a bride's dream wedding experience! The bridal suite is very large and beautifully decorated. The groom's room was awesome too. The entire venue is spacious and just amazing, inside and out! Sara has a very calming nature and is wonderful to work with. She really helped my daughter and I through the process by answering any question we had and sharing recommendations with us. If you're looking for a wedding venue, or any type of event, go visit! You will fall in love!

- Kim McEnturff

"My husband and I just had our wedding this past weekend and we couldn’t have chosen a better venue. Besides it being an absolute gorgeous venue, the service was spectacular. Everyone went above and beyond to make sure that our day was everything we’ve dreamt of and more."

- Haylee Cano

The owners, Sara & Austen are two of the friendliest people you’ll come to know! Their energy and passion for hosting dream weddings was evident from day one. Sara made me feel comfortable and valued during our first tour. She understood that weddings are EXPENSIVE and IMPORTANT! She accommodated to all of our needs and answered my questions throughout the planning process. On our wedding day, staff was available to assist us when needed. Everything went so smoothly and it truly was the perfect day in the most beautiful venue! Having an outdoor AND indoor option was especially important to us as well. You will have that here! The bridal suite is a MUST SEE. It’s spectacular!! Sara & Austen do honor first responders AND nurses by providing a discount on your big day. We would recommend this couple AND this venue over and over again!

- McKenna LeCroy

"The space is absolutely incredible! You will definitely get your dream wedding and more here! Not to mention the owners are the greatest. They are organized, timely, and super creative. Best venue of the South!"

- Caylee Taylor

"My daughter's wedding was absolutely perfect! The Establishment Barn is a beautiful venue and Sarah, The Establishment Barn's owner was amazing! Sarah was so helpful and easy to work with...she ensured my daughter had the wedding of her dreams!"

- Jani Mansour

I would recommend Sara and her beautiful Barn in a heart beat. The venue is amazing and the bride/groom suites are unlike anything you have seen. It is a bit of a drive (we live in Dallas) but with the help of bus shuttles taking everyone out, it was perfect and so worth the drive. Sara was super sweet and helpful with her quick responses and vendor recommendations!

- Diana Knee

"Beautiful venue. Great owners and staff. Our day was better than I ever could’ve dreamed and a lot of that was thanks to the Establishment. I highly recommend this venue!"

- Claire Brewer

What can I say... this venue is a little slice of heaven tucked away in the woods. From beginning to end the process was professional and flawless, thanks to the Owner of the barn, Sara.

Sara went out of her way to have a friend run to get a Bundt cake when my cake girl was unresponsive and late. She let us use the barn and the bridal suite for my bridals which turned out beautiful. My guests RAVED about how beautiful it was. Close (11 miles) to some brand new very clean, nice hotels in Terrell - they even decorated our room the night of our wedding! I loved that I didn’t need to bring much decor because the barn’s beauty was enough! We were able to get there super early in the morning to start getting ready and relax in the upstairs oasis - it was just perfect. Can’t say enough - really.

- Lauren Barrett

The Establishment Barn and Sara (the owner) are so wonderful, it’s going to be hard to put into words how perfect and amazing everything was for our wedding. If you are looking for a great wedding venue, look no farther than The Establishment Barn. It truly is a hidden gem and I can’t imagine having my wedding any other place.

The Establishment Barn is a hidden gem just one hour east of Dallas. The property is beautiful and the barn itself is amazing. There is a beautiful and very large bridal suite upstairs and the groom’s suite is downstairs. There is a large kitchen for the caterer and a spacious area for cocktail hour.

Sara was so easy to work with and was very responsive anytime my wedding coordinator or myself had a question. She made herself available on a Sunday afternoon so my wedding coordinator and I could tour the venue together to discuss how everything was going to be setup. She was there during the setup up and our entire wedding, helping our coordinator if needed. She even texted me the day of my wedding saying congratulations and to savor the day because it’s going to be a day we will remember forever.

- Megan Crow

The Establishment Barn was incredible. The owner, Sara, was so easy and fun to work with! The venue was gorgeous! The bridal suite is to die for! Best day ever! Best venue

- Maurie Roos
