DFW Barn Venue
Planning out the timeline of your big day includes planning time for the speeches that will take place during the reception! But how long should you plan to dedicate to this time? The length of time depends on how many people you will have giving a speech during your reception at our DFW Barn Venue.
The first speech of the evening usually comes from the parents, or father of the bride. This can happen before, during, or after dinner, and is typically a thank you and congratulations speech all in one. They thank the guests for coming and congratulate the new and happy couple on their new marriage.
After dinner, but before cutting the cake, your maid of honor and best man should be prepared to give speeches during your wedding, too! These can be speeches about the two of you as a couple, their relationship with one of you and being able to see your side of the relationship evolve. These are a special time that you get to hear your best friends talk about you and your new life partner.
After the maid of honor and best man speeches or even after the cake cutting, the happy couple can then opt in to give a thank you speech to their family and friends for coming. Many couples don’t do this, so if you don’t love talking to crowds, don’t feel like you need to!
Lastly, you can reduce the time spent on speeches during your wedding by having a dedicated time during your rehearsal dinner for other family members or friends to give speeches or say a little something. This will be a special time between those closest to you and will help everyone that would potentially want to say something to you to feel included.
